MEET THE NAA TEAM
Penny Middleton (Project Manager)
Penny will be responsible for the overall running of the project. She runs NAA's Heritage Conservation and Built Heritage team and has over 25 years experience as a historic buildings and landscape surveyor. Penny has an MA in British Archaeology from Reading University, a post-graduate qualification in Architectural History from the University of Oxford and is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (MCIfA).
She has a particular interest in industrial archaeology and her projects include Coniston copper mine and Penny Rigg copper mill in the LDNPA, Red Scar and West Stonesdale lead mines in the Yorkshire Dales NP, and Roseberry Ironstone Mine in the North York Moors. In 2015 she was thrilled to receive the Association of Industrial Archaeologists Archaeological Report Award.
Rebecca Cadbury-Simmons (Field Team)
Rebecca will be responsible for the organisation and running of
the fieldwork on a day-to-day basis, as well as volunteer liaison. She has a
BSc in Archaeology from the University of Bradford and an MSc in
Palaeopathology with Distinction from Durham University. Rebecca has recently
joined NAA having previously been the Community Heritage Officer at the
Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) and has a good knowledge of the
archaeology of upland areas. She recently ran the 2018 Rusland Woodland Survey
and has extensive experience of working together with local volunteers.
Lydia Loopesko (Field Team)
Lydia will assist Rebecca in the fieldwork. Lydia has a BA (Hons) in Geology with a Masters (Hons) in Cultural Heritage Management from the University of York. She has experience with Level 2 landscape and building surveys with NAA, and in other landscape surveys in Montana with Indiana University and with Sumo Geophysics in Bradford. She has experience working with volunteers as part of the Maintenance Co-operatives Project with the Society for the Preservation of Ancient Buildings and with York Minster.
